Plumbing FAQ — Sale & Wellington Shire
Straight answers to the questions Sale homeowners ask us most.
Do you offer 24/7 emergency plumbing in Sale?
Yes. Our emergency line is answered around the clock and a real plumber is dispatched to Sale and Wellington Shire day or night, including weekends.
How fast can a plumber get to my Sale home?
Central Sale, Longford and Wurruk are usually under an hour. Maffra, Stratford, Rosedale and Loch Sport take a little longer — we give an honest ETA on the phone.
Is there a call-out fee?
There is no charge to quote. We give a fixed price before any work starts, and we tell you upfront if an after-hours surcharge applies.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. Every job is done by a VBA-licensed, insured plumber. Gas work is carried out by a licensed gas fitter and a compliance certificate is issued.
What areas do you cover around Sale?
Sale, Longford, Fulham, Wurruk, Dutson, Loch Sport, Rosedale, Stratford, Bundalaguah, Maffra and Heyfield — all of Wellington Shire.
Do you charge by the hour or a fixed price?
We quote a fixed price for the job before we start, so you know the cost up front. There are no surprise charges on the invoice.
What payment methods do you accept?
Cash, card and bank transfer. For larger jobs we will discuss payment terms before work begins.
Do you guarantee your work?
Yes. Our workmanship is guaranteed — if a repair we made fails within the warranty period, we return and fix it free of charge.
Can you fix my hot water system the same day?
In most cases yes. Common failures are repaired in a single visit, and if a replacement is needed we can usually source and install a unit the same day or next morning.
Which hot water brands do you service?
Rheem, Dux, Bosch, Rinnai, Aquamax, Solahart, Everhot and most other brands sold in Gippsland — electric, gas, solar and heat-pump.
Do you install solar hot water and help with rebates?
Yes. We install eligible solar hot water and heat-pump systems and help you claim the Victorian Solar Homes rebate and STCs/VEECs.
Should I repair or replace my hot water system?
A failed element, thermostat or tempering valve is usually worth repairing. A leaking tank or a unit over 10–12 years old is generally better replaced. We will tell you honestly.
Why does my drain keep blocking?
Almost always because of a cracked or displaced section underground — very common on Sale's clay soil. A CCTV inspection shows the exact cause so it can be fixed permanently, often with pipe relining.
How much does it cost to clear a blocked drain in Sale?
We give a fixed price before we start. Most standard blockages are cleared in a single visit with high-pressure jetting or a snake.
Do you use high-pressure water jetting?
Yes. Jetting clears grease, silt and roots and cleans the pipe wall, giving far better results than a snake alone for most Sale blockages.
Can you stop tree roots getting into my sewer?
Yes. We clear roots with jetting, then reline the cracked section with no-dig pipe relining so roots cannot re-enter.
What is pipe relining and do I need it?
Pipe relining is a no-dig repair that installs a new pipe inside the old one. If your drain blocks repeatedly due to cracks or roots, relining fixes it permanently without excavation.
Is pipe relining cheaper than digging up the pipe?
Often yes, once driveway, garden and paving reinstatement is included. It is also far less disruptive and the only practical option under structures.
Are you licensed for gas fitting?
Yes — we are VBA-licensed gas fitters and issue a compliance certificate for every gas installation or alteration, as required in Victoria.
How often should a gas heater be serviced?
Energy Safe Victoria recommends at least every two years. Older units common in Sale's pre-1990s homes should be tested for carbon monoxide at every service.
I smell gas — what should I do?
Turn off the gas at the meter, open windows, do not switch anything electrical, leave the property and call us. We will make it safe and repair the leak.
Can you convert an appliance between LPG and natural gas?
Yes. Some Sale rural properties run on bottled LPG rather than natural gas. We convert and set up appliances for the correct gas supply.
Do you service septic systems in Wellington Shire?
Yes. We handle septic pump-outs, AWTS servicing, installations with Council permits, and compliance inspections for property sales.
How often should a septic tank be pumped out?
Usually every 3–5 years for a standard septic, depending on household size and use. We advise on the right schedule and carry out the pump-out.
What is the Wellington Shire septic permit fee?
The current application fee is $822. We handle the installation and help with the paperwork so the system passes Council inspection.
Can you find a hidden water leak?
Yes. We use acoustic and thermal leak detection to pinpoint leaks under floors, behind walls, in slabs and in pools — without tearing your home apart.
My water bill jumped — is it a leak?
Often yes. Turn off all water and check your meter; if it still moves, you have a leak. We can locate it and stop the waste.
Do you do bathroom and kitchen renovations in Sale?
Yes. We handle the plumbing and waterproofing detailing for renovations, from strip-out to fit-off, and coordinate with your builder and tiler.
Can you install a dishwasher where there was none?
Yes. We run the water supply and waste to the new location and connect the dishwasher with the correct drain hose arrangement.
Do you clean gutters and fix roof leaks?
Yes — we are licensed roof plumbers. We clean and repair gutters, downpipes, box gutters and flashing, and trace roof leaks to the actual cause.
